Nothing is being written down

The words only appear while the record key is lit. On iPhone and iPad, D-REC needs two permissions: Settings › D-REC › Microphone and Speech Recognition, both on. On the web, the browser asks once and remembers; if you said no, the site's padlock in the address bar is where you undo it.

The take stopped at ten minutes

That is the limit without an account. A free account keeps three sessions on the device it was made on and reads the first three takes in full. D-REC Pro takes the limits off.

It went quiet when I locked the phone

Recording continues with the screen locked and with D-REC in the background. If it does not, check that Background App Refresh is on for D-REC and that Low Power Mode is off.

I cannot find an old session

Sessions live on the device that made them, and nowhere else. They are not in an account and they are not on a server, so they do not follow you to another phone or computer, and clearing the browser's site data for D-REC erases them. Export anything you want to keep: any session goes out as text or CSV.

Plans and billing

D-REC Pro is $3.99 a month, which begins with seven days free, or $39.99 once and it is yours forever. Prices are in US dollars or the local equivalent shown at purchase.

Cancel a subscription. Bought on iPhone or iPad: Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Bought on the web: the account panel, under MANAGE. Cancelling stops the next charge and Pro runs to the end of the period already paid for. Cancel before the seven days end and nothing is charged.

Refunds. Pro Forever bought on the web carries a full refund within 14 days: tap REQUEST A FULL REFUND in your account panel. Anything bought through Apple is refunded by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Pro is not on my other device. Pro follows the account, not the device. Sign in with the same email, or on iPhone tap RESTORE PURCHASES in the plans card.

Mac and Windows

The desktop app is for Pro Forever. Signing in once installs a licence on that computer which does not expire, so it runs with no network at all after that. One computer at a time, and you can move it: sign in on the new machine and it asks whether to move the licence there.

Where your recordings are

On your device. Audio, transcripts, chapter titles and summaries are produced on the device and stay there. Nothing you record is uploaded, and there is no copy anywhere for us to hand over, lose, or read.

What does leave the device: an account holds your email address and which plan you are on, a support note holds what you typed, and D-REC sends one anonymous ping a day so we can count how many people use it. That ping carries no content and no account, and you can switch it off in Settings. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Delete your account

Account panel, DELETE ACCOUNT. It removes the email address and the plan record. Your sessions were never on our side, so they are unaffected; wipe those from the app itself.
